Pins, T-shirts, and Lunches, oh my!

If you haven't filled out your pre-order forms for pins, t-shirts, and lunches, please fill those out ASAP and get them back to our Sales Queen, Laureen Dycus!  The forms are due by Monday so that we can get everything ordered.  Also, here is a letter to TMs about how the sales table will operate.  Please review this and share with your team parents.  Thanks!

Program Booklet

Forms, Forms, Forms!

Double check to make sure your team has ALL the forms they need for the tournament!  For every team, we need:

• 5 copies of the Tournament Data Form (last 2 pages in each challenge copy)
• 2 copies of the Declaration of Independence (p.42 of Rules of the Road)
• 1 copy of the Expense Report (p. 41 of Rules of the Road)
• Any special clarifications your team has had answered (print copy of email)

The Tournament Data Forms, Expense Report, and Declaration of Independence can also be found in modifiable pdf (interactive) format on the IDODI resources page... just log in as team manager with your Team Pak number.

The 5 copies of the TDF get turned in at your Central Challenge prep area and are distributed among the scoring appraisers so they know what to give you points for!  One of the copies of the Declaration of Independence should be turned in at Prep Area, and the other should be turned in at IC Check-In.  The Expense Report should be turned in at Prep Area.

Final Tournament Schedule!

A copy of the final tournament schedule has been emailed to all TMs and coordinators.  We've been having some trouble with some folks receiving that email (particularly people with vbschools accounts).  In the event you did not receive the email tonight (Wednesday evening), a copy of the tournament schedule is posted here!  See you in 10 days!  Check back here each day for a tournament countdown checklist!

Schedule feedback due today!

To all TMs and Coordinators,

A draft copy of the tournament schedule went out two nights ago, but I'm receiving emails from people saying they didn't get it.  If you didn't get it, please email Barb.  Revisions are due today so we can get the schedule to the printers soon!  Thanks for your help!

Advancing to the DIVA Tournament

Please note that this year, 1st and 2nd place teams from each site will advance to the DIVA Affiliate Tournament!  This includes projectOUTREACH, as this year the scoring structure for that challenge has changed.  In addition, we have one WILDCARD team that we will send on to the Affiliate Tournament!  In order to be elibigle for a WILDCARD draw, a team must have placed 1st in either the Central Challenge or Instant Challenge but not have placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd overall.

Challenge B: Site Specifics

For all you teams getting ready to set THE SOLAR STAGE: we have some specifics for you regarding the challenge site.  Here is a message from our Challenge Master:

 

1)       LOCATION of VENUE:   Corporate Landing Middle School’s auditorium. (Standard classrooms there can’t be darkened sufficiently, so our challenge will take place in the auditorium.)

2)      LIGHTING LEVELS:    Total darkness can be achieved.

• There are two “House Light” controls – one in back (for audience lighting), and one at rear of the stage.
• When the Announcer begins the announcement, the first item will be for the “Door Holder” to turn out the rear house lights (leaving only the stage house lights).
• When the team signals the Lighting Appraiser (who will be located behind a side curtain at the rear of the stage), the Lighting Appraiser will turn out the Stage Lights (this may require 3-4 steps to get there).
• If possible, the main aisles in the audience seating area which lead to the exit doors will be outlined by Christmas rope lights for emergencies.
• House lighting will remain off until the end of the performance or the end of the 8-minute time slot, whichever comes first.  Then appraisers will turn on both sets of House Lights.

3)      DOORS:    Signs will be posted at audience entrances and at team entrance to make everyone aware that during the 8-minute performance, DOORS WILL ABSOLUTELY REMAIN CLOSED (except for emergency).

4)      POWER:    A 3-pronged extension cord with one outlet will be available at the side of the performing area, plugged into the side of the stage (where a curtain operator would normally stand).   Normal school power will be provided at this site.   If your solution isn’t tripping the circuits at your practice area in your home or school, then it shouldn’t trip the circuits at the school.

IF YOUR SOLUTION TRIPS THE POWER CIRCUITS:

• Your performance will continue for the duration of the 8 minutes or until the performance is complete, and the entrances will remain closed except for school custodial personnel.  At least 2 Appraisers will have been given battery-powered flashlights, which they will then turn on to allow the team to continue the performance.  Every attempt will be made to restore the power during that time; however, if it is not possible to restore the power during that time, your scores for Technical Lighting (if you're using the extension cord provided at the side of the stage) would likely be affected. Any battery-operated Technical Lighting could still be evaluated, however, as that would not be affected.

Instant Challenge Training is FULL

Thanks to all the teams who have registered for this Saturday's Instant Challenge training!  We'll be at John B Dey Elementary School.  A schedule will be drafted tomorrow night during our board meeting and emailed to TMs of participating teams.  Reminder that the fee is $10 for participation.

In addition, don't forget that Saturday is the deadline for registering (cheaply) for the regional tournament!  Please send registration money to the Assembly Drive address listed in the online registration form.  If you'll be at the IC training, you can bring your check to the site and we'll collect it from you then.  After Saturday, the price for registering for the tournament goes up.

Instant Challenge Training 2012!

Hi, everyone!  We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting an Instant Challenge Training!  The date is Saturday, January 7th, 2012 @ John B.
